Alsatian Euphemism

While studying for my Great War paper on euphemisms I came across the term Alsatian Shepherd. This being a name created to use instead of German Shepherd, so as not to relate the dogs with the Germans or their behavioral habits even though it is the same dog from the same general region. I found this to be quite interesting and poignant with what i was trying to say with this piece. It is only imagery to describe the cerebral emotions associated with the experience. If anyone were to have seen the true horror of the situation, they wouldn't want to share in any memory of it.
The piece is supposed to visually represent the characteristics of the dog that were taken for granted. Also the connection of the two dogs symbolize their dependency and helplessness; one as a ghostly image of the other.
The bird is an element of death and foul play.  This isn't the greatest picture of the painting, but it is finished...except for that bird...

First of all... thank you so much for such a kind comment! It made my day =)

Second... holy cow, I drool over this painting in the hallway every time I pass by. I've been wondering who is responsible for such a lovely piece. You are such an amazing painter!

And third... I did go to Michigan Tech back in the day.......What an odd coincidence......wow!! Sorry, you've got to refresh my memory. Did you go for illustration? Did we ever "officially" meet or just kinda hung out?
