silver lining

works in progress tonight ::

This is definitely due tomorrow for studio and I definitely am going blind staring at the canvas. But I love a night of nothing but painting. My paintings lately kind of have an edge of uncertainty to them as I go along. Since the color is the language of the piece it is always a push and pull, give and take process that ends up in places I didn't exactly expect. The shadows are tricky, they can be read as roots it doesn't really matter, but I'm afraid they are looking too rainbow-ish. A little too Lisa Frank. But then I ask myself, is there ever enough Lisa Frank....

..anywho, this is for the ever-popular Lion's Christmas Card. I decided a simple portrait, very straightforward would do the trick. Plus, babies in snowsuits...does it really get more cheerful than that?

and simply for your viewing pleasure ::

snacks and sleepy kitties.

smiley potatoes are my new favorite food. especially when you add the ketchup and it becomes a smiley massacre. haha creepy
and izzy just puts a smile on most peeps faces. have a good night :)

I love how the painting turned out! And, no, I don't think of Lisa Frank when I look at your work (if that makes you feel any better!) Your use of color is what makes your work YOURS, and I think that's a real good thing.

Hope you caught up on some sleep, too. I still need more. Ha ha, we were both zombies yesterday!!
